An Innovative and Simplified Crown Seating Method using the ContacEZ Restorative Strip System on Tooth #8

Figure 1. A ceramic crown was placed on Tooth #8 and pressed up to the prepared margin. There was resistance to seating the crown against the prepared margin.

To find the side of the heavier proximal contact among mesial and distal, ContacEZ Diamond Dental Strip, the ideal proximal contact solution (Black) was inserted into the mesial and distal interproximal spaces facing the abrasive side to the crown and passed buccolingually a few times. The side with more pressure against the strip is the side of heavier proximal contact and needed more relief.

More pressure was detected in the mesial than the distal interproximal space and ContacEZ Diamond Dental Strip was passed buccolingually a few more times (or 5-6 times) through the mesial interproximal space. This procedure was repeated in the mesial and distal interproximal space until there was light resistance in both of the interproximal spaces. When light resistance in both the mesial and distal interproximal spaces was equal, the ideal proximal contact adjustment of the crown on Tooth #8 was completed.

Figure 5. The excess resin cement around the crown was removed with an explorer. ContacEZ Serrated Dental Strip, the interproximal space cleaner (White), was passed through to cut and clean out the remaining resin cement in the distal and mesial interproximal spaces.
